"You Are Being Lied To" is the title of the second full length album by Kinesis. Entirely self-recorded and produced, as well as independently released, it is a return to the DIY ethic from which we grew. For several months we have been working almost daily from our self-built studio in Manchester, writing, rehearsing and recording the songs that appear on this album. The motivation came from the knowledge that this would be our final statement as a band. As of the release of this record, Kinesis will be no longer. After almost four years, we have decided to bring it all to an end in the best way possible. We have always maintained that we would know when it was over. After being chewed up and spat out by the record industry, we were determined not to simply fade away with no definitive full stop to the band's history. This is it.

This is the album we have always promised to make. We have taken taken the last record as a starting point and moved out to each extreme; more loud, more quiet, faster and harder, softer and slow, direct and abstract. With far less concern about commercial viability, we have been able to create a truer expression of our ideas, pure and untainted by thoughts of playlists and chart positions. Not that this is a work of avant-garde pretention. We have always appreciated the simplicity of a great melody and contained here are some of the most simple, direct songs we have ever written.
